The Surgeon was the first of Tess Gerritsen's novels I acquired, and many of the men who first read the manuscript thought it was too shocking and too gory - but all the women loved it! In fact I couldn't keep the manuscript on my shelves, which was how we first knew we had a bestseller on our hands.

The novel introduces detective Jane Rizzoli, the only woman in the Boston Homicide Division, and her boss, the darkly sexy Thomas More - and it's the first novel to feature the nastiest predator of them all - Warren Hoyt.
